How have your donations helped Brandon?
Thanks to your donations and the continued support of the Jaiden's Journey Foundation, Brandon was able to do many things!
The Maher Family was able to take Brandon to the Conductive Education Center of Orlando in Florida for continuous summers. He is a star at camp, from increasing the number of steps he took with a walker to taking independent steps! The students walk out of their classrooms at the end of the day, and Brandon was usually the first one, racing to the door. He was able to maintain a standing position longer- in the above picture in the center he is the student in the front row standing. His quality of movements improved, with him taking longer strides and maintaining good posture. He also worked really hard at standing from a sitting position and sitting from standing.

Brandon had a huge setback in November of 2014. He had surgery to repair his foot, which was turning outward. His brain is telling his foot to hold that position- we have had Brandon in AFO's (braces for his foot that stop at the knee) for a long time hoping to change the foot position, but it was time for it to be corrected surgically. He was in a full length cast for 4 weeks and a short cast for 2 weeks. Your donations helped pay for a child wheelchair with leg lifts during his recovery.
Brandon inspired a new family to try conductive education. This family saw Brandon's improvements at his therapy center in San Antonio, and asked about his achievements. They spent four weeks in Orlando at CECO with Brandon, and were as amazed with the results as we were Brandon's first year. They hired a conductor to come to San Antonio to work with their son, and invited Brandon to work with her as well. Because of your donations, Brandon was able to receive SIX weeks of PRIVATE conductive education therapy for an average of 3 hours a day at the time he needed it the most- after his foot surgery. Your donations and this opportunity brought Brandon back to a standing position and walking again, something he was too scared to approach after his surgery. He is once again gaining his speed and endurance, and we can not thank you enough for helping this happen. The conductor feels strongly that Brandon can be an independent walker in the near future!
Proceeds from this year will go towards deposits for future camps and private therapy to continue his amazing progress. We truly hope that Brandon will be an independent walker in the near future.
